Babesia felis and Cytauxzoon both form a signet ring shape and could understandably be confused for one another. However, given the limited geographical distribution of Babesia felis, if you live in an area outside of South Africa (and the pet has no travel history), you can confidently diagnose Cytaux when we come across this morphology.
