Emperipolesis - Cyto art to brighten your day ๐ธ
Have you ever seen a cell more worthy of becoming wall art? ๐ธ
This is an example of emperipolesis in a corneal epithelial cell from a dog with corneal neutrophilic inflammation.
Emperipolesis is when a cell (usually neutrophils) travels through another cell’s cytoplasm (usually an epithelial cell), but they are not being eaten (aka phagocytosis). They just make their way through and exit somewhere else at some point, unharmed.♥๏ธ
