Which of These are you Least Likely to See in an Effusion?

There are a number of different types of neoplasia you can see in effusions.

Of the ones listed here, which do you think you’re LEAST likely to see neoplastic cells within the effusion? (i.e. the neoplastic cells don’t exfoliate readily into the effusion)


The answer is...sarcoma!

Sarcomas don't often exfoliate well in general, so you're not as likely to see the neoplastic cells in an effusion as you are with the other types listed here.
